On July31 2011 at 7 in the morning my dog and I were walking down our camp road in Oxford, Maine when a large black cat came out of the woods and stopped in the road about 50 ft away it stood broadside and had a tail easily as long as its body it was very sleek and about 3ft tall it just stood there and looked at us for 2 to 3 minutes then slowly crossed the road into the woods. We have hung a camera but as of yet no pictures I have reported this to several people but they dont seem to think it was a large cat I spend alot of time in the woods and know what bear, fisher cats, black labs look like this was most certain to be a large cat .

I live in Walpole, Ma., adjacent to Sunny Rock Farm, 90 plus acres of farmland no longer being worked. Saturday night at 8 oclock, my husband walked out of our garage and saw something out of the corner of his eye dash down our yard and onto our wooded side hill. He looked (he was about 20 feet away) and saw a mountain lion. It stood still, looking at him and he at it for a few minutes, then he backed into the garage, ran into the house to call me. By the time I saw it, it had leapt our stonewall and was on the farm land, standing in tall grass. I saw it lift its head. There was no mistaking the shape of its head. This couldn't have been any creature but an honest-to-God mountain lion. In the middle of the suburbs! My kids will no longer be playing on their swingset, let me tell you! My husband is a biologist and a lifelong lover and photographer of nature. What a shame he didn't have his camera in his hand when we saw this beast.

Just this week my wife met with this elusive mountain lion. We live on Baxter Mtn in Sharon VT our back yard is filled with ledge croppings and houses a den of fox.
Sunday, she stepped out side with our two dogs to let them do their business.
On the rocks across the driveway was this huge cat. She called for me but didn't say why and I was reading the Sunday paper, but I casually got up and went to see what she wanted and then she explained to me she had seen this huge cat about the size of a german shepard. By the time I got outside the animal had sauntered over a knoll and was gone. I was upset, as had I known what she saw I would have gotten a photo. She is sure she saw a lion....we have seen bobcats, coyotes, fishercats up here and there is no mistaking what this was when I showed her the pics on the internet.

We operate a Cstore here in town and now have heard of several sightings around here in recent years....but no one truly believes that they exist, except for those who have seen one.

1953 My buddy and I were hunting for pheasant on the Foxboro State Farm land in Foxboro, Massachusetts just behind the High School it was about 6AM we had walked through a pine grove to be as quiet as possible. We had just got to the edge of the last corn field as far from the road as possible. We were about to step over a rock wall. Across the field but on the edge tight up to the woods was a long flat rock about 10 feet long and 5 feet across. Stretched out on that rock was a mt. lion. We watched for some time he sort of stretched as would a house cat. Stood up on all four legs and stepped onto the ground. He walked slowly about 30 or 40 ft. And turned down a path into the woods. We walked over to check out the rock. Then we walked to the path and followed it for a few minutes. A man was walking toward us on the path. We asked if he had seen the mt lion. He said no but that explains why he had to stay in the horse barn all night. He said he was afraid his horses would kick their stalls down. We never saw the cat again. I enjoyed the show on TV today on our History channel here in Rochester. N.H. Thanks for your work. Ron
